Counseling

A Counselor is ....

What is Counseling?

Psychosocial support for emotional distress, loss, and significant life events
In my practice, I encounter many people who have been there for others for a long time. They care, work, take on responsibility, and persevere. Until the moment comes when it simply becomes too much.

Not because they have failed, but because life sometimes demands more than one can bear alone.

Illness, conflicts in caregiving, loss of health, grief, informal caregiving, or persistent stress can leave deep emotional scars. The mind is filled with worries, the body tenses up, and the emotions are difficult to manage.

In such times, it is helpful not to have to bear everything alone. Counseling offers a safe and professional form of support.
What do I mean by counseling?
Counseling is a form of psychosocial support that focuses on coping with emotional, mental, and social stress. It is neither a medical treatment nor purely solution-oriented coaching. Counseling lies somewhere in between.

While coaching primarily focuses on goals and functionality, counseling places a stronger emphasis on:
  • Processing experiences
  • Emotional support
  • Insight and self-understanding
  • Strengthening resilience
  • Restoring inner balance

Conversation is a central component of my support. It is attentive, respectful, and respects your pace.
When can counseling be helpful?
In my practice, I support people struggling with the following problems:
  • Stress and overload
  • Grief and loss
  • Illness or medical procedures
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Major life changes
  • Tensions in relationships or family
  • Moral or emotional burdens at work
  • Conflicts or complaints after treatment

Often, it's not just a single problem, but a combination of different factors. Together, we create structure and clarity.
My approach: safe, personal, and professional
For me, counseling begins with safety and trust. You should be able to speak freely without being judged or pressured.

In our sessions, I support you in:
  • organizing your feelings
  • recognizing patterns
  • reducing tension
  • recognizing boundaries
  • treating yourself with more self-love
  • gradually regaining control

If needed, I integrate methods such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness exercises (MBSR/MBCT). These help you to manage thoughts, feelings, and stress differently. The goal is not for your problems to "disappear," but for you to feel stronger and more stable.
What are the benefits of counseling?
Clients often report that they:
  • experience greater inner peace
  • feel heard and understood
  • understand their situation better
  • worry less
  • are better able to manage their emotions
  • gain more self-confidence
  • have more freedom for the future

Not because life has become easier, but because it feels less stressful.
Counseling, Coaching, and ACT
At PSYCHOMARKER Consulting, I view counseling, coaching, and ACT as complementary approaches. Counseling supports the processing of experiences and offers emotional support. Coaching focuses on functioning and personal development. ACT promotes resilience and behavioral change. Depending on your needs, we combine these approaches to ensure individually tailored support.
